Three-part series on the Three Most Essential Hadiths of Allah's Messenger (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

Imam Suyuti reports in his book al-Ashbah wal-Naza'ir that Imam Ahmad b. Hanbal said, "The foundations of Islam rest upon three hadiths: 

i. All actions are based on intentions;
ii. Whoever introduces something in this matter of ours which is not from it will be rejected; and
iii. The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between these two are doubtful matters."

Bio:
Arsalan Haque was born in Karachi and raised in College Station, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's in Biochemistry in 2001. After working in in Houston for a few years, he traveled to Damascus, where he studied the Arabic language for two years. In 2007, he was granted a scholarship by the Islamic American University to study at al-Azhar University in Egypt, where he just finished his final year of studies last month. He is married with one son.
