Join ISNA’s Webinar with Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi, a world renowned Islamic scholar and Chairman of Fiqh Council of North America on the best performance of Hajj that strengthens the faith and transforms the lives of believers.

Every year, Muslims from all over the world take part in the largest gathering on Earth, pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj). The Hajj is a religious obligation that every Muslim must fulfill, if financially and physically able, at least once in one’s lifetime. This annual event of faith demonstrates the concept of equality of mankind, which allows no superiority on the basis of race, gender or social status. The only preference in the eyes of God is piety as stated in the Quran: "The best amongst you in the eyes of God is most righteous."

While performing his pilgrimage, Malcolm X wrote, "They asked me what about the Hajj had impressed me the most. . . . I said, `The brotherhood! The people of all races, colors, from all over the world coming together as one! It has proved to me the power of the One God.' . . . All ate as one, and slept as one. Everything about the pilgrimage atmosphere accented the oneness of man under one God."

More On Muzammil Siddiqi
Muzammil Siddiqi received his BA in Islamic and Arabic Studies from the Islamic University of Medina, Saudi Arabia and later went on to complete a degree in Comparative Religion at Harvard University. Currently, Dr. Siddiqi works as an Educator and Religious Director of the Islamic Society of Orange County where he has served since 1981. Dr. Siddiqi is the current Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America. He has served as chairman of the Religious Affairs Committee and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the National American Islamic Trust (NAIT). As a member of the Executive Board of Majlis al-Shura of Southern California, Dr. Siddiqi has organized and participated in several national and international Islamic conferences on Sirah, Fiqh and Da'wah. Because of his devotion to the preservation of Islam in America, he has organized numerous training programs for Muslim adults and youth. He also lectures on Islam and interfaith dialogue in North America and abroad. Dr. Siddiqi has authored books on Hajj & Umra, Ramadan and has published many academic papers and articles in encyclopedias and journals, as well as his weekly column in Pakistan Link. Since 1982, he has provided Qur'an commentary in a weekly radio program. Dr. Siddiqi served as the President of ISNA from 1996 - 2000.
