Ustadh Ubayd reads and reflects on Imam Al-Haddad's classic text, contextualized for modern times.

3) Starstruck: Discovering Our True Role Models
Prophet Muhammad (S) said, "My Companions are like the stars; whoever among them you use for guidance, you will be rightly guided." Stars have aided travelers for centuries, helping them navigate open waters, arid deserts and climb the highest peaks. Similarly, the companions of the Prophet can brighten our journey along the straight path. They have provided us with examples of impeccable manners, unwavering faith, and brilliant leadership skills. Join us to learn about the companions and the distinguished characteristics that we should all strive to emulate.

When: Between Maghrib and Isha (7:45PM to 9:00 PM)

ABOUT THE TEACHER
 
USTADH UBAYDULLAH EVANS converted to Islam while in high school. Upon conversion, he began studying some of the foundational books of Islam under the private tutelage of local scholars while simultaneously pursuing a degree in journalism from Columbia. Since then he has studied at Chicagoland's Institute of Islamic Education (IIE) under the rectorship of Maulana Abdullah Saleem, in Tarim, Yemen, and Al-Azar University in Cairo, Egypt, where he is the first African-American to graduate from its Shari'a program. He is also an instructor with Ta'leef Collective and serves as Scholar-in-Residence at Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN).
