For our next MPA event, we are pleased to partner with the Muslim Women's Leadership Forum in bringing Hind Makki, a prominent interfaith educator, to Houston. Her work focuses on civic integration through interfaith action, anti-racism education and youth empowerment.
She will discuss the role that Muslim Americans must play in broader society. This is a discussion of the social contract - the obligations that Muslims must fulfill in the American context. What does it mean to be a good citizen? What Islamic obligations do Muslims have to the greater society? How do race and gender issues play into this discussion, and how does it manifest itself in our professional roles?
The event is being held on Wednesday, July 2nd, at 6.00pm at the Embassy Suites - Energy Corridor, Katy Freeway near Kirkwood. MPA Members can attend this event at no charge & non-members can attend for $25 by registering in advance.
