Ustadh Usama Canon was Born and raised in California, Usama Canon embraced Islam in 1996 and has been a student of the tradition ever since, studying various Islamic Sciences both stateside and abroad under some of today’s foremost scholars. During the last decade, Usama served as the Outreach Director and an Arabic Instructor at Zaytuna Institute, as well as a Muslim Chaplain for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Usama is the Founding Director of Ta’leef Collective, a community based non-profit focused on assisting converts to Islam and creating healthy social and sacred spaces. He is also a spiritual advisor to the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), visiting Chicago monthly in this capacity. In addition to speaking in various communities throughout the United States, Usama leads workshops and retreats worldwide.


Ustadh Ali Ataie is a teacher and researcher of the Islamic sciences, specializing in theology and biblical interpretation. He is Adjunct Professor of Islamic Studies and World Religions at both Zaytuna College and the Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, California. At the latter, Ustadh Ali is working towards a PhD in Islamic Biblical Hermeneutics. His comprehensive knowledge of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions is matched by few. Ustadh Ali is certified in Arabic, Hebrew, and Biblical Greek, and fluent in Farsi. For over 15 years, Ustadh Ali has diligently taken part in interfaith work. He has dialogued and debated with Christian scholars about such critical topics as the resurrection of Jesus and the Prophet hood of Muhammad (God’s peace and blessings be upon them both).


Shaykh Naeem Abdul Wali is a great teacher of the Islamic disciplines who has taught in the United Kingdom, Western Europe, United States, Canada and Australia. Resides in Houston, Texas and is the resident scholar at the Sunna Institute.
