“This is the Book (the Qur'an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqūn.
Who believe in the Ghayb…”
[Baqarah, 2:2-3]
Belief in the Last Day is one of the pillars of Iman, but today it is a field of study filled with much scepticism and bogus conspiracy theories. People predicated the end of the world in 2012 and used many modern phenomena as proof, but as Muslims we know that our Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was the most knowledgeable of all humans in this regard and imparted this knowledge onto his companions in a very detailed and descriptive manner.
Hudhayfah said: "The Prophet stood up one day to speak to us, and told us everything that was going to happen until the Hour, and left nothing unsaid.” (Abu Dawud, Muslim.)
So what should be our approach be in learning the Signs of the Last day?
Firstly : To believe in all of the Unseen, including the Signs of the Hour which have been authentically reported to us.
Secondly : To know that everything which takes place is from the decree of Allah.
Thirdly : To not deny any of those signs simply because they seem incomprehensible to us.
Fourthly : To not misinterpret those signs as a result of our own lack of understanding.
Fifthly : It is not our responsibility to explain the Signs of the Hour or make complete sense of them; rather our minimum responsibility is to have īmān in them.
