Volunteering

Muslim Mentor Program, a community partner with Harris County Sheriff Office's Reentry Program, is seeking volunteers to serve Muslim and non-Muslim inmates weekly in the jail downtown. For a year, volunteers have been providing a setting for the inamtes to belong. We help inmates cope with their urgent emotional and spiritual issues they may be faced with while incarcerated. We also help facilitate their reentry needs before their release to the free society.

Ten reentry volunteers are needed to serve about 200 inmates weekly. We need six more volunteers to accomplish this goal. Next County Volunteer Orientation and Training is scheduled for Tuesday April 28, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Kindly contact me at aijazahmed@sbcglobal.net or text at 832.859.6092 for further details.
