"I never saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so keen to fast any day and give it priority over any other than this day, the day of 'Ashura', and this month, meaning Ramadan." Reported by Al-Bukhari, 1867
Join El Farouq Mosque on Friday and Saturday to break your fast!
We hope to see you there, insha'Allah!
All moon-sighting bodies in the North America are agreed that the 9th and 10th of Muharram (Ashura) will fall on Friday and Saturday respectively,
Our Prophet (s) has very keen to fast the days of Muharram and even more so the day of 'Ashura (this Saturday), as he said, “I hope from Allah that observing the fast of `Âshûrâ will expiate for the sins of the past year” (Sahih Muslim)
Fasting on the 9th (Friday) and/or the 11th (Sunday) along with the Saturday is a Sunnah as well as the Prophet (s) had intended to do so for the 9th of the next year. He was unable to do this due to his death.
Please make sure that you fast this Friday and definitely the Saturday to have your sins from the previous year!
