FREE SEWING BASICS CLASS - GETTING TO KNOW YOUR MACHINE

Location: ISGH River Oaks Islamic Center - 3110 Eastside Street, Houston 77098

Date:  (Sat) February 6th

Time Frame:  2:00pm - 3:30pm, deadline to register is (Fri) Feb 5th

Details:  This is for Adult Sisters and teenage girls + well behaved preteens 10/11/12 that have never sewn before.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  We require that you are serious about learning how to sew and are planning to buy a sewing machine.  If you are not planning to buy a sewing machine anytime soon, please wait to take this class because you may forget what you learned by the time you buy one. 

Sewing machines will be provided for the class.  You will be matched with one of our current Sewing Sisters who will work with you 1 on 1.  Before the class, you will be given access to 2 FREE online video classes that will show you what you will learn in the class.  This will help you be prepared when you come for class.

After you learn sewing basics and get your own sewing machine, you can join our Sewing Circle that meets twice a month.  We have a lot of fun at our sewing days, we sew, laugh, eat & socialize. 

Also, after this Sewing Basics class, there are lots of paid sewing classes offered all over Houston if you want to learn to sew clothing, make bags, home decor, etc.  Plus there are lots of FREE tutorials online and on YouTube.

* The parts & features of a sewing machine

* How to thread the sewing machine & bobbin

* How to insert the bobbin

* Installing & replacing needles

* About the different types of stitches

* Basic sewing supplies

KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS A 1 TIME CLASS TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH YOUR SEWING MACHINE.  IT IS NOT AN ONGOING SERIES OF CLASSES THAT TEACH SEWING SKILLS/TECHNIQUES.
