FREE SEWING BASICS CLASS - GET TO KNOW YOUR SEWING MACHINE

Do you want to learn to sew?  Want to meet New Sisters?  Please share!

Location: At Sr. @pril's home, 11 miles SE of ROIC, at the 610/45 intersection, 2 blocks from Gulfgate Shopping Center (address will be given to those that sign up)

Date:  (Wed) March 16th

Time Frame:  12:00pm - 1:30pm, deadline to RSVP is (Mon) March 14th

Details:  This is for Adult Sisters + young ladies (ages 10-17) that have never sewn before or are relearning.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Sr. @pril requires that you are serious about learning how to sew and are planning to buy a sewing machine.  If you are not planning to buy a sewing machine anytime soon, please wait to take this class because you may forget what you learned by the time you buy one.  

Sewing machines will be provided for the class, if you don't have one.  If you have a sewing machine at the time of the class, please bring it.  Sr. @pril will work with you 1 on 1 during the class & answer any questions you may have.  Before the class you will have required video homework.  You will be given access to 2 FREE online video classes that will show you what you will learn in the class.  This will help you be prepared when you come for class.

After you learn sewing basics and get your own sewing machine, you can join our Sewing Circle that meets once a month.  We have a lot of fun at our sewing days, we sew, laugh, eat & socialize. 

Also, after this Sewing Basics class, there are lots of paid sewing classes offered all over Houston if you want to learn to sew clothing, make bags, home decor, etc.  Plus there are lots of FREE tutorials online and on YouTube.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS CLASS:

* The parts & features of a sewing machine

* How to thread the sewing machine & bobbin

* How to insert the bobbin

* Installing & replacing needles

* About the different types of stitches (also practicing straight & zigzag stitches)

* Basic sewing supplies

----> KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS A 1 TIME CLASS TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH YOUR SEWING MACHINE.  IT IS NOT AN ONGOING SERIES OF CLASSES THAT TEACH SEWING SKILLS/TECHNIQUES.  THIS CLASS PREPARES YOU SO THAT YOU CAN CONTINUE PRACTICING BASIC SEWING STITCHES.  EVERYONE THAT SEWS STARTED BY PRACTICING THEIR STITCHES FIRST.
