Texas Impact is coming to the Houston area to hold a Civic Engagement Forum to discuss this past legislative session with a focus on issues that impact the Muslim community in particular. This will be a great opportunity for folks to learn about what happened "behind the scenes" during the most recent legislative session, as well as discuss how the community can best prepare for upcoming elections.

Please note: While the event is FREE to attend, we do need everyone to register by Oct 1st using this Eventbrite link:

==============================

Texas Impact is a non-partisan interfaith advocacy organization that works with the Muslim community to keep you informed about what is happening at the Capitol. Texas Impact works with Muslim organizations statewide to coordinate the Texas Muslim Capitol Day and also provides Muslims with updates on bills that are being proposed that would impact the Muslim community.

This past session, Texas Impact helped with the following bills that impact the Muslim community:
- We fought against more Anti-Sharia bills proposed to target the Muslim community and successfully kept this bill from becoming a law (it was a close call though)
- We advocated for a law that would require police officers to wear body cameras
- We advocated for a bill that would allow mosques (and other places of worship) to regulate firearms inside their buildings since TX just passed the Open Carry Firearm law.
